Surprise Surprise

My husband and I were recently invited to attend a surprise birthday party. Here's the catch...There's a charge of $50.00 per person with a cash bar.  I've never heard of such a thing!!  Since when guest pay to attend a surprise party?  I know times are hard, but these days it's seems it's easier to pass the buck...It this a new trend? Well I guess the surprise is on us!
